A quiet public beach on the eastern end of 30A with sugar-white sand, emerald water, and free parking. Sits right next to Rosemary Beach with the same gorgeous Gulf shoreline but without the private community price tag.

Inlet Beach sits at the eastern end of Scenic Highway 30A and offers something that is increasingly hard to find along this stretch of the Panhandle: a genuinely public beach with free parking and no resort community gatekeeping. The sand here is the same sugar-white quartz that makes the entire 30A corridor famous, and the water runs the same spectrum of emerald and turquoise that draws millions to the Panhandle every year. The difference is that Inlet Beach feels more like old Florida than the planned communities on either side of it.

The area has been growing steadily over the past several years, with new restaurants, coffee shops, and small businesses filling in what used to be mostly vacant lots along Highway 98. This growth has brought more visitors, but the beach itself remains significantly less crowded than Seaside, Rosemary Beach, or Destin to the west. On a typical summer weekday you can find a wide open stretch of sand without much effort, which is something the more popular 30A beaches cannot offer. We captured a 360 photo during our visit so you can look around the beach and see the sand, the water, and the surrounding area for yourself.

Next Door to Rosemary Beach

One of Inlet Beach’s best features is its proximity to Rosemary Beach, which sits immediately to the west. Rosemary Beach is a private community with upscale dining, shopping, and architecture, but its beach access is limited to residents and guests. Inlet Beach gives you the same sand and water with the added benefit of free parking and no access restrictions. You can walk the shoreline west toward Rosemary Beach freely since all Florida beaches are public below the high tide line. This makes Inlet Beach a smart base for anyone who wants to enjoy the 30A lifestyle without paying resort community prices.

Camp Helen State Park

A short drive east of Inlet Beach brings you to Camp Helen State Park, one of the lesser known state parks along the Panhandle coast. The park sits on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Powell, which is the largest coastal dune lake in Florida. The beach inside the park is beautiful and rarely crowded, and the hiking trails through the coastal scrub provide a nice change of pace from a full day on the sand. There is a modest entrance fee per vehicle, but the combination of Gulf beach, freshwater lake, and nature trails makes it well worth the stop.

A Growing Local Scene

Inlet Beach is in the middle of a transformation from a quiet pass-through at the end of 30A to a destination in its own right. New restaurants and shops have been opening along Highway 98, and the area has started to develop its own identity separate from the resort communities to the west. The dining options are more casual and affordable than what you will find at Rosemary Beach or Alys Beach, and the overall atmosphere is less polished but more relaxed. For visitors who find the planned communities along 30A a little too curated, Inlet Beach offers a refreshing alternative with the same natural beauty.
